Drawing With Your Brain
Are you terrible at drawing? Don’t get discouraged – you have all of the necessary skills to make beautiful sketches. You just have to use your brain correctly!
In order to draw well, don’t use your eyes, but rather, the right hemisphere of your brain. From the early years of childhood, we are accustomed to using the left hemisphere of our brains when we draw. The left hemisphere is the home of logic, analytical abilities, and reason – all of which smother a creative spirit. This is why most of us have difficulty creating a realistic representation of what we are trying to sketch.
The right hemisphere of our brain controls our spatial vision, our intuition, and our instantaneous reactions. Therefore, it is not by simply looking at a bouquet of flowers that we will make a good drawing. You shouldn’t try to reproduce what you see, but rather, you should try to find inspiration in your feelings. To do so, you will need to master a technique which allows you to get in touch with the right hemisphere of your brain. As soon as this region is stimulated, the left hemisphere “disconnects” and, miraculously, lets your imagination take over.
